How to determine the pricing?

(Tutorial 2)


Remember! If it is selling, it does not mean it is profitable! What do I mean?  Someone may be getting rid of inventory and they may be reducing prices.  You have to research pricing!

You will need to look at the highest and the lowest price to determine if the product is worth selling.The truth is, eBay is a great tool for anyone who wants to start an online business. However, there are a lot of people who are selling on eBay so your competition is fierce. You need to stay ahead of your competition and do quality research.

After you have selected the product you want to sell, you need to find out the price range for that product. (This will help you determine wholesale price and if you can really make a profit on this item.)

If you are not logged into your eBay account, go ahead and log in.


Step 1. In your search box type in Baby Video Monitors. You will get a number of baby video monitors that are selling right now.

Step 2. The good part is that Baby Video Monitors are selling and we know there is the market for Baby Video Monitors, but we need to find out what the price range is to determine what our wholesale price needs to be in order to make profit.

Step 3. We need to determine the popular Baby Video Monitors and what is the average price. On your left hand side (the yellow side menu bar), you will select completed listings and then click show items.

If you look at the picture above green shows items sold and red shows items did not sell. About 20-30% of your auctions will not sell. But you need to make sure that the other 70-80% will make up the money lost on auction fees and that you make the profit.

In addition to eBay pricing, you can also visit http://whats-hot-weekly.com (or other shopping comparison sites) to determine if price of the product is stable.

Your goal is to determine lowest price on these items. This way you will know that your wholesale price needs to be at least $20 below lowest resale price.
